Baghdad: Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, inaugurated the private steel foundry at the State Company for Steel Industries, following comprehensive rehabilitation and development operations. This is a new facility for the reconstruction and development of heavy industries in Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry explained in a statement: "This factory is the only one of its kind in Iraq, producing all types of iron, manganese, and ferrous castings, according to the needs of various vital sectors, with a capacity of 1,500 tons annually."

He added: "This project is part of a series of strategic projects and an integrated step towards strengthening heavy industries in the country, increasing national production, and reducing imports."
