Tianjin: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian held a meeting on Monday on the sidelines of the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China. The talks focused on the latest developments in Syria, the Israeli attacks on Gaza, and the peace process in the South Caucasus between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the two leaders also discussed bilateral relations and key regional and international issues.

Erdogan stressed that strengthening Turkish-Iranian cooperation serves mutual interests in various fields, particularly in the energy sector. He further underlined the importance of Iran’s continued engagement in nuclear program negotiations, noting that Ankara will continue to support Tehran in this regard.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, established in 2001, currently includes eight full members such as China, Russia, India, Pakistan, and Iran. It also has observer states and dialogue partners, including Turkey.
