Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, emphasized the urgent need to increase water releases and ensure that Iraq receives its adequate share as stipulated in relevant international agreements and laws. He highlighted that addressing the water issue is crucial for Iraq’s security, the well-being of its people, and the future of its generations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mandalawi, in a meeting today, hosted Ali Reza Koni, Head of the Iraq Department at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with his diplomatic delegation. The discussions focused on local political developments, regional dynamics, and their implications for neighboring countries, alongside various issues and files of mutual interest.

Al-Mandalawi stressed the importance of activating the role of joint government committees concerned with water affairs to reach scientific, comprehensive, and fair solutions that protect Iraq’s rights and serve the interests of its people.

Furthermore, the First Deputy Speaker affirmed that relations between Baghdad and Ankara are distinguished in economic, investment, and other areas. He highlighted the importance of leveraging these ties to enhance cooperation on multiple levels for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples and the progress of both countries.
