Basra: Basra Police Commander, Major General Latif Abdul Redha Al-Sa’ad, announced that the implementation of the ‘area security plan’ has yielded tangible results on the ground, noting that a recent operation in Al-Hussein Police Sector led to the seizure of weapons and various items, as well as the arrest of several violators.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement, Al-Sa’ad explained that a police force grew suspicious of three individuals riding a motorcycle, one of whom attempted to flee upon reaching an abandoned house in Al-Qaim Street area. After inspection, it was found that they were intoxicated and carrying no identification documents. With support from the tactical unit, the third regiment, and emergency police, the site was searched, resulting in the discovery of three rifles, drug-use paraphernalia, five motorcycles, two power generators, a vehicle license plate, and five rifle magazines.
He confirmed that the suspects and the seized items were handed over to Basra Criminal Investigation Department to complete legal procedures, stressing that the police leadership remains determined to pursue wanted individuals, confiscate unlicensed weapons, and counter any activities that threaten community peace.
Al-Sa’ad also called on citizens to cooperate with security forces by immediately reporting suspicious activities through the hotline (911), emphasizing that such cooperation is a cornerstone in ensuring the success of the area security plan and strengthening the province’s stability.
