Washington: US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that the United States will adopt a more aggressive strategy in warfare, emphasizing “maximum lethality,” following the official renaming of the Department of Defense to the Department of War.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hegseth elaborated on this strategic shift during a speech at the White House, where US President Donald Trump signed an executive order formalizing the name change. Hegseth stated, “The Department of War will fight decisively, not engage in endless wars. We will fight to win, and we will go on the offensive, not remain solely on the defensive.”

Furthermore, Hegseth emphasized that the Department of War will employ “maximum lethality, not lukewarm legitimacy,” and leverage “violent influence” to establish “a new nation of warriors, not mere defenders.” This marks a significant change in the country’s military approach, aiming to ensure decisive victories in future conflicts.
