Turkey Affirms Support for Qatar Against Israeli Attack Targeting Its Sovereignty and Security

Baghdad: Turkey affirmed its support for Qatar against this despicable attack targeting its sovereignty and security. It renewed its call for the international community to pressure Israel to stop its ongoing aggression against Palestine and the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement issued Tuesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned Israel’s targeting of Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, with an airstrike. The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated: “We condemn the Israeli attack on the Hamas negotiating delegation in Doha,” emphasizing that “targeting the Hamas negotiating delegation during ceasefire negotiations shows that Israel does not aim to achieve peace, but rather to prolong the war.”

The Turkish Foreign Ministry further noted: “With this attack, Qatar, which mediated the ceasefire negotiations, has been added to the list of countries targeted by Israel in the region.” They view this as clear evidence of Israel’s expansionist policies in the region and its adoption of terrorism as a state policy.

In an unprecedented move, Israel targeted Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, in an airstrike. According to Israeli media, 12 of its fighter jets participated in the operation. Israel quickly claimed responsibility for the attack, which aimed at a meeting discussing US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Israeli occupation army referred to the attack as “the fire summit,” as stated in an army report. Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the attack targeted key figures such as the head of the Hamas negotiating delegation, Khalil al-Hayya, political bureau member Zaher Jabarin, and Hamas official abroad, Khaled Meshaal.
