Interior Ministry Executes Extensive Security Operation in Eastern Baghdad

Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday that it had carried out a large-scale security operation in Al-Saada and Al-Rashad areas in eastern Baghdad, as part of its efforts to enforce the rule of law and pursue wanted individuals.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated that al-Rusafa Police Command, supported by the Federal Police and al-Rusafa Intelligence Directorate, launched the operation early in the morning from five directions. The operation involved Rapid Response Forces, units from the Intelligence Agency, as well as detachments from the Anti-Narcotics, Residency, and Traffic departments. Teams from the National Committee for Weapons Control and specialized narcotics testing units also took part.

The operation resulted in the arrest of several wanted persons, including suspects in murder cases, and the seizure of weapons, hand grenades, and military equipment. Security forces also dismantled a gang specialized in stealing motorcycles, shut down an unlicensed plastic factory, and detained violators of foreign labor laws.

The ministry stressed that the operation demonstrates the readiness of its security forces to combat crime and pursue lawbreakers, affirming that similar operations will continue to safeguard the capital. It also urged citizens to cooperate and report suspicious activities, noting that further details will be announced later.
