Doha: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that Israel will not halt its occupation policies unless faced with deterrent sanctions and a firm approach. In his speech at the opening of the Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on Monday, Erdogan said: ‘The mentality that operates through bloodshed and chaos is embodied in an entity that violates the UN Charter and international law. The crimes of the Netanyahu government impose a cost on all its supporters, and the brazen attack on Qatar has even prompted Israel’s supporters to reject it.’
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish President stressed that the escalating Israeli aggression today poses a direct threat to the region, emphasizing that the extraordinary summit in Doha comes at a critical time. He added that Israel’s practices have reached an unprecedented level of brutality, and that the Netanyahu government appears determined to continue committing massacres and pushing the region toward chaos and instability.
He pointed out that Israel’s aggression has not been limited to Gaza alone, but has extended to Lebanon, Syria, and Iran, with assassinations targeting politicians. Today, the aggression has even reached Qatar, which serves as a mediator seeking peace.
Erdogan said that some Israeli politicians are repeating the illusions of “Greater Israel” through their efforts to occupy neighboring countries, emphasizing that Islamic countries possess the ability and capabilities necessary to thwart these expansionist illusions.
The Turkish President called for intensified diplomatic efforts to increase sanctions on Israel and bring Israeli officials to justice through international legal mechanisms. He stated that Israel will not cease its occupation policies unless it is faced with deterrent sanctions, emphasizing that Islamic countries have the capabilities to stop them.
Erdogan added that the region is required to strive to hold Israeli officials accountable before international courts, work to achieve self-sufficiency in development, and enhance cooperation among Islamic countries in these areas.
Erdogan continued, saying: ‘Exerting economic pressure on Israel has proven successful, and that Turkey and its allies will continue the struggle until the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, a fully sovereign state, and that we cannot allow displacement or partition.’
