Doha: The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has declared that Israel’s actions against the Palestinian people are unforgettable and has labeled the Netanyahu administration as a rogue government.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Aboul Gheit made these statements during his address at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in Doha. He emphasized that the killing of 63,000 people, along with the starvation and displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, are actions that will remain etched in memory. He also highlighted the recent attack on Qatar, which has consistently worked towards establishing peace and saving lives, including those taken hostage.
Aboul Gheit further criticized the Israeli government, asserting that its actions are destroying the foundations necessary for peaceful coexistence in the region and exposing future generations to an era dominated by violence and conflict. He described the Israeli government as a rogue state on both regional and global stages.
He specifically condemned the Israeli attack on Qatari sovereignty, arguing that it has transgressed all limits and violated fundamental humanitarian principles and norms that have been upheld for centuries. Aboul Gheit expressed concern over the justification of such actions and warned against the descent into unprecedented levels of barbarism without facing accountability.
He argued that targeting peaceful individuals, negotiators, and mediators is not an act of bravery, but rather one of cowardice. He condemned the boasting associated with such attacks as indicative of moral decline in international relations.
Aboul Gheit clarified that the summit’s purpose extends beyond solidarity with Qatar. It aims to send a clear message to the international community against remaining silent on the actions of a rogue state that has ignited conflict and destruction in the region. He stressed the dangers of silence on criminal activities, which he argued undermines the international order and emboldens perpetrators to continue their actions unchecked.
The Secretary-General concluded by urging the international community to break its silence on the situation in Gaza and hold the involved parties accountable, to prevent further destruction and instability in the region.
