Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas, on Thursday in the capital, Ankara, in the presence of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara, Faed Mustafa, stated in a press statement that the Palestinian President’s three-day visit to Turkey comes within the framework of regular political consultations between the two presidents and friendly countries, given the historical ties and relations that unite them.
This visit “gains great importance at this critical stage in the course of the national cause, in light of the brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the escalating pace of Israeli attacks in the West Bank,” according to Mustafa. Turkey is one of the countries most critical of Israel’s crimes, one of the most supportive of the Palestinian people, and one of the most emphatic in emphasizing the need for them to obtain their legitimate rights, especially the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Palestinian Ambassador explained that these developments will be on the agenda for discussion between the two presidents and the leaderships of the two countries, in addition to consultations on various regional and international developments that have repercussions for the Palestinian cause. The Palestinian delegation includes: Chief Justice of Palestine and Advisor to the President for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash; Advisor to the President Mustafa Abu Al-Rub; Advisor to the President for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi Al-Khalidi; and the Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara.
