Al-Sudani Urges Informed Participation in Upcoming Elections to Ensure Accurate Choices


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the importance of participating in the forthcoming elections with awareness to ensure accurate choices. During a meeting held at Sheikh Mahdi al-Hakak’s guest house with tribal sheikhs, dignitaries, and academic elites from Karrada, he highlighted the significance of informed electoral participation for the future of Iraq.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani expressed gratitude to Sheikh al-Hakak for the opportunity to engage with the residents of Karrada, a city that has endured sacrifices during past regimes and terrorist attacks. He acknowledged the city’s role in embracing notable individuals across various fields such as politics, commerce, and culture. The Prime Minister announced that the government has already begun implementing the first set of demands from Karrada’s residents, with work on the second set underway. He emphasized the prevailing stability and security in Iraq, with security forces maintaining control.



Al-Sudani reiterated the necessity of participating in the elections with awareness, viewing it as a crucial step towards achieving security, stability, and development. He urged voters to set aside past mistakes and prioritize national interests over personal or factional agendas. He warned against boycotting the elections, labeling it a potential boon for corrupt elements and those with harmful agendas, while pointing out Iraq’s growing international respect and appreciation.



The Prime Minister highlighted the ongoing economic transformation in Iraq, citing the significant $100 billion investment influx as evidence of the country’s safety and stability. He described Iraq as a “large workshop” where comprehensive development plans are being executed across various governorates.



Al-Sudani underscored the importance of integrity in political actions and the need to prioritize public interests. He concluded by emphasizing the government’s responsibility to provide job opportunities and secure the future for the youth, who make up 60% of the population.
