Nineveh: UNESCO has successfully completed the restoration of 38 heritage houses in the Old City, in coordination with archaeology and heritage specialists. This initiative is part of a broader project aimed at supporting the governorate in preserving its historical landmarks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil announced that the project was implemented by UNESCO in cooperation with a company specializing in archaeology and heritage. The restoration was carried out after obtaining all necessary official approvals to ensure the work met international standards.

Al-Dakhil highlighted that the houses were restored in a traditional archaeological style to maintain the Old City’s cultural identity. This phase follows the restoration and delivery of 44 other houses under the same project, which seeks to revitalize the city in alignment with its rich heritage and history. He elaborated that these efforts are part of ongoing initiatives to rebuild Mosul, focusing on historical sites that have suffered significant damage in recent years.

He further noted that the completed work marks an important step in reviving the Old City and fostering an environment supportive of heritage and culture in Nineveh. Al-Dakhil affirmed the continued support for restoration projects in accordance with reconstruction plans.
