Baghdad: Minister of Trade, Dr. Atheer Dawood Al-Ghariri, chaired the ninth session of the committee formed under Diwani Order No. (37) of 2024 to focus on the implementation of import policy and related executive procedures.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Minister emphasized the committee’s pivotal role in shaping economic policies and making decisions that help regulate the import process to serve the public interest and protect consumers. The session centered on discussions to amend the current customs tariff in accordance with international standards and the ASYCUDA system.

The aim is to unify procedures across all customs centers, ensure systematic revenue collection, and simplify inspection processes while considering economic variables. The committee is also focused on protecting consumers from price fluctuations of essential commodities.

The session concluded with the confirmation of several observations and the approval of specific recommendations. These will be submitted to the Ministerial Council for the Economy for final approval.
