Damascus: The US Central Command announced that it carried out a strike in Syria that resulted in the killing of a senior attack planner linked to al-Qaeda.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement on the X platform, the US Central Command stated that its forces carried out a precision strike in Syria on October 2, killing Muhammad Abd al-Wahhab al-Ahmad, a senior attack planner and member of Ansar al-Islam, a terrorist group linked to al-Qaeda.

The Central Command confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to target terrorist leaders and disrupt their planning and execution capabilities, noting that al-Ahmad posed a direct threat to regional security and US interests.

Commander of U.S. Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, said that U.S. forces in the Middle East remain ready to disrupt and defeat terrorists’ attempts to plan, organize, and execute attacks. He added, “We will continue to defend our homeland, our warfighters, our allies, and our partners throughout the region and beyond.”
