Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid affirmed his keenness to support constructive dialogue between all political parties, noting the importance of unifying efforts and working with a spirit of shared responsibility to ensure security, stability, and progress in the country.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a presidential statement highlighted that President Rashid received Bafel Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, at Baghdad Palace. The meeting was also attended by Nizar Mohammed Saeed, Head of the PUK Political Bureau in Baghdad, and Minister of Justice Khalid Shawani.
The statement detailed discussions on the latest political and security developments in Iraq, with an exchange of views on national issues. The meeting emphasized enhancing cooperation between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, especially following a recent agreement on the region's oil export aimed at supporting the economy and achieving the supreme national interest.
Additionally, the statement mentioned the ongoing preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections. President Rashid stressed the importance of creating the right conditions for free and fair elections to boost citizens' confidence in the democratic process and ensure fair representation for all segments of the population.
Bafel Talabani expressed appreciation for the President's efforts to consolidate stability in the country.
