Ankara: The Turkish drone Bayraktar Kizilma has successfully completed tests of the advanced MURAD 100-A AESA radar following its integration. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baykar, the manufacturer of the Bayraktar Kizilma drone, Selcuk Bayraktar, shared footage of the test flight and a bulletin detailing its features on a Turkish social platform on Tuesday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the MURAD 100-A, developed by the Turkish company ASELSAN, is a multi-functional fire control radar featuring Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology. This radar facilitates simultaneous air-to-air and air-to-ground engagements, with its Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missile guidance capability significantly impacting modern air warfare.

The radar provides superior detection and tracking performance through its wide frequency band and electronic beam steering capability in azimuth and elevation. With these advanced technologies, the MURAD 100-A enhances Kizilma’s sensor fusion capabilities, optimizing situational awareness during air missions against aerial and ground targets.

As highlighted in the bulletin, the radar marks a new era in the Turkish national fighter system by offering indigenous solutions in electronic warfare and radar technologies. The Bayraktar Kizilma UAV is noted for its revolutionary capabilities, including the ability to land and take off from short-run vessels like the Turkish ship TCG Anadolu.

The Bayraktar Kizilma project commenced in 2021, with the first aircraft emerging from the production line on November 14, 2022, before completing its first successful flight on December 14, 2022.
