Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, has urged members of Parliament to ensure a strong presence at the forthcoming session, where 15 significant laws that address the immediate needs of citizens are set to be voted on.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mandlawi’s media office released a statement calling on the heads of blocs, committees, and representatives to attend the upcoming session. He emphasized that these laws, which have been fully prepared by the parliamentary committees, are crucial for addressing citizens’ needs.
Among the laws highlighted by Al-Mandlawi are those concerning compensation for victims of military operations, errors, and terrorism, the Civil Defense Law, the National Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Authority Law, the Renewable Energy Regulation Law, and legislation on the rights of victims from several incidents including the Ibn al-Khatib Hospital tragedy. These laws are described as essential drafts impacting citizens’ lives, rights, and basic services.
Al-Mandlawi stressed the importance of attending the sessions, describing it as both a constitutional duty and a national responsibility. He noted that the successful passage of these laws would significantly enhance public confidence in the legislative body. Delays, he warned, could adversely affect the living and service conditions across the nation.
