Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced today the arrest of five suspects in the assassination of Baghdad Provincial Council member Safaa al-Mashhadani in Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated that a coordinated effort with the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) led to the precise operations resulting in the capture of the suspects. These individuals are accused of involvement in the assassination that took place in the Tarmiyah district, north of the capital.

The ministry’s statement highlighted that the operation was executed under judicial arrest warrants issued by the competent authorities. This was the result of intensive intelligence work, field efforts, and ongoing investigations that successfully pinpointed the suspects’ locations, facilitating their arrest.

The ministry further emphasized that investigations are still in progress under judicial supervision. They assured the public that more details will be shared once all necessary procedures are finalized.
