Baghdad: The Baghdad Operations Command has taken decisive action by closing 267 polluted sites, which include metal smelting, brick, and asphalt factories.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command announced the closure of 177 metal smelting factories, 60 brick factories, and 30 asphalt factories. In addition to these closures, a significant number of unregulated burning sites have also been dismantled.
The Command’s statement emphasized that these actions are part of the directives issued by the Prime Minister, who also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The measures are in line with the Diwani Order Committee (241285) and are aimed at mitigating environmental pollution. The production processes at these sites are known to emit harmful gases and odors, posing a risk to the health and safety of citizens.
