Suspects Apprehended for Murder of Sadr City Resident in Baghdad


Baghdad: The Baghdad Rusafa Police Command announced the arrest of the suspects involved in the killing of a citizen, a resident of Sadr City, while riding his motorcycle on Al-Mashateel Street in the Adhamiya area, after being directly shot by unknown individuals.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Police Command confirmed the formation of a specialized task force to follow up on the incident and gather information. The license plate number of the vehicle used, a white Corolla, was identified, and the owner’s address was determined to execute the arrest warrant.



The Police Command added that the vehicle was seized inside the house, and it was found that the owner’s two brothers, one of whom is a lieutenant, were the ones who used it during the incident, during their rest stop and outside of official working hours.



It was explained that the accused were arrested within only 24 hours, and the murder weapon and the empty envelope were seized. They initially and judicially confessed to committing the crime following a previous quarrel with the victim. They were arrested in accordance with the provisions of Article (405) of the Iraqi Penal Code, in preparation for referring them to the judiciary to receive their just punishment.
