Baghdad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms the Iraqi government’s sincere desire to expand the horizons of joint cooperation with South Korea. The Ministry emphasized its intention to include new areas that align with modern requirements.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry revealed that Ambassador Hisham Al-Alawi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Planning Affairs, participated in a ceremony organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Baghdad. This event marked the National Day of the Republic of Korea and the Day of the Korean Armed Forces. Attendees included the Iraqi Minister of Interior, several officials, ambassadors, academics, and business figures, alongside ambassadors from various countries accredited to Iraq.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Al-Alawi delivered a speech, extending the congratulations of Iraq’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and its citizens to the Republic of Korea’s government and people. He wished Korea continued progress and prosperity while highlighting the strong friendship and cooperative ties between the two nations.

Dr. Al-Alawi further reiterated Iraq’s commitment to broadening cooperation with Korea, targeting emerging fields such as digital transformation, cybersecurity, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing academic and cultural exchanges between universities in both countries.

Concluding his remarks, the Undersecretary expressed profound gratitude to the leaders, officers, and personnel of the Korean Zaytoun Military Division. This division had contributed to maintaining security and stability in Iraq as part of the international coalition forces post-2003.
