Israeli Army Conducts Airstrikes on Gaza Following Disputed Hostage Body Handover

Gaza: The Israeli army launched airstrikes near Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, as reported by a security source within the Strip. This military action occurred after an announcement from Israel that three bodies handed over by Hamas did not belong to hostages currently held.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, an Israeli military source expressed disbelief regarding the identities of the bodies, which was later confirmed by a forensic laboratory. The bodies were not those of the hostages, as initially speculated.

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, stated that they provided three samples of unidentified bodies in anticipation of Israeli claims, despite previous refusals to do so. This exchange has taken place amid ongoing tensions and halted negotiations to return hostage bodies, with Israel accusing Hamas of breaching the ceasefire agreement initiated on October 10.
