Diwaniyah: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani reaffirmed on Saturday the government’s commitment to implementing strategic and service projects in Diwaniyah Province, noting that the province has witnessed significant developmental progress since the launch of the government’s comprehensive project package.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani, speaking at an electoral festival in Diwaniyah, stated that the government had initiated projects worth 5.942 trillion dinars. These projects include the Diwaniyah Refinery, Al-Shanafiya Power Station, infrastructure developments, and the Reconstruction Fund for the Poorest Provinces, all of which are now under implementation.

He highlighted a considerable drop in the poverty rate in the province over the past two years, with approximately 300,000 residents lifted out of poverty. Additionally, 66,000 new families have been added to the social protection network, and 5,000 beneficiaries have transitioned to government jobs.

Al-Sudani emphasized the launch of major service and educational initiatives, such as constructing 128 new schools, rehabilitating more than 200 existing ones, and allocating 100 billion dinars for engineering and service projects. Furthermore, 2.5 trillion dinars have been designated for infrastructure development across the province.

He also announced plans to launch the Diwaniyah Iron and Steel Project and establish an industrial investment city, describing these as pivotal to Iraq’s industrial and economic growth.

In his concluding remarks, Al-Sudani addressed the spread of misinformation and falsehoods by those he referred to as ‘the heirs of failure and corruption’. He urged citizens to actively participate in the elections to ensure they elect representatives who genuinely serve their interests.
