Cairo: The Sudanese ambassador to Egypt, Emad El-Din Adawi, confirmed that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) used nerve gas during their attack on El Fasher. Adawi stated, “El Fasher witnessed widespread attacks, the deployment of armored vehicles, and a complete communications blackout. The Sudanese army decided to withdraw from the city to protect the lives of the hostages.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Adawi further remarked, “What happened in El Fasher is a continuation of the tragedies that occurred in Omdurman, Sennar, White Nile, and El Geneina. Wherever these forces enter, they have a racist ideology and believe in the brutal killing of others.”
Additionally, the Sudanese Minister of State for Social Welfare, Salimi Ishaq, reported that the RSF killed at least 300 women in just the first two days of their attacks on El Fasher in western Sudan.
The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights announced in a press release that it had received multiple and alarming reports that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were committing atrocities, including summary executions, after seizing control of large parts of the besieged city of El Fasher in North Darfur and the city of Bara in North Kordofan in recent days.
The European Union expressed concern in a press release, stating, “The RSF’s takeover of El Fasher represents a dangerous turning point in the war and threatens to worsen the already dire humanitarian situation. The targeting of civilians on an ethnic basis highlights the RSF’s brutality.” The EU urged “all warring parties in the country to de-escalate and return to the negotiating table.”
