Istanbul: Turkish media reports have revealed that Galatasaray has made a move to sign Argentine star Lionel Messi on a short-term loan deal, potentially lasting four months ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish outlet Fotomac reported that Galatasaray plans to bring in Messi during the MLS offseason, aiming to help the Argentine legend maintain peak fitness and form before the global tournament.
The report added that the Turkish club is prepared to present a substantial financial offer, including a salary of around 10 million euros for the brief loan period, in addition to covering all logistical expenses.
As the reports spread, Messi’s official Instagram account witnessed a surge of interaction from Galatasaray fans, who flooded the comments section with messages urging him to join the Turkish side and experience playing in the Turkish Super League.
It is worth noting that Messi, now 37 years old, joined Inter Miami in the summer of 2023 and recently signed a
new contract with the American club that runs until the end of 2028, putting an end to months of speculation about his future.
