Manila: Philippine authorities announced today that the death toll from Typhoon Kalmagui, which struck the central part of the country, has risen significantly.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that 114 people have been killed and 82 others injured due to the typhoon.

The council’s statement also revealed that 127 individuals have been reported missing. Nearly 2 million people have been affected by the typhoon, underscoring the extensive impact of the disaster.

The Philippines faces an average of 20 typhoons and tropical storms each year, which often result in heavy rains, strong winds, and deadly landslides. The recurring natural events pose significant challenges for the nation, affecting lives and livelihoods.
