Baku: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Baku on Saturday afternoon to participate in Azerbaijan's "Victory Day" celebrations, commemorating the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region from Armenian occupation.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan is accompanied on his visit to Azerbaijan by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chief Ibrahim Kalin, and several other officials. Erdogan is expected to meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Baku to discuss bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international developments.

Azerbaijan is celebrating the fourth anniversary of its victory in the war to liberate the Nagorno-Karabakh region from Armenian occupation on Saturday. On September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani army launched a military operation to liberate its occupied territories in Nagorno-Karabakh. After 44 days of fighting, Azerbaijan and Armenia reached a ceasefire agreement stipulating that Baku would regain control of its occupied provinces. On November 8 of the same year, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev declared Victory Day in the war, marking the date his country's forces entered the city of Shusha in the Nagorno-Karabakh region after its liberation.
