Basra: The director of the Basra Electoral Commission office, Haider al-Salawi, announced that 522 polling centers across the province opened their doors today to receive more than 1.5 million voters casting their ballots to elect their representatives to the next parliament.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the total number of candidates is 571, comprising 408 men and 163 women, competing for 25 seats, including 6 women allocated through the quota.
