Baghdad: The Minister of Oil, Bassem Mohammed Khudair al-Abadi, has highlighted the economic significance of a new strategic pipeline project for Iraq’s future. This development is seen as a pivotal step in advancing the country’s energy infrastructure and export capabilities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Minister al-Abadi chaired an expansive meeting attended by key figures such as the Undersecretary for Extraction Affairs, Naseer Aziz, and the Directors General of both the Basra and North Oil Companies. The meeting’s focus was on the strategic export pipeline project, known as Basra-Haditha-Fishkhabur and Haditha-Banias. This project is expected to diversify Iraq’s oil export routes with an impressive export capacity of 2.25 million barrels per day.

The meeting discussed the implementation mechanisms of this significant project, which will be undertaken by a consortium of esteemed international firms. The American companies Chevron and Ti Capital, along with the Qatari firm UCC, have been selected to spearhead this endeavor.

Concluding the meeting, Minister al-Abadi urged for the acceleration of procedures and the intensification of technical and commercial negotiations to quickly reach the contract signing phase. He reiterated the project’s strategic and economic value, underscoring its role in shaping Iraq’s future and enhancing its energy sector infrastructure.
