Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji affirmed today that Iraq maintains balanced relations with the world and pursues a policy of openness to the international community in a way that strengthens common interests.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the National Security Advisor stated in a press release that Qasim al-Araji met with Victoria Taylor, Director of the Iraq Initiative within the Middle East Program at the Atlantic Council, along with her accompanying delegation. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the Middle East Program at the Atlantic Council concerning issues and files endorsed by the program.

The press release mentioned that Taylor congratulated Iraq on the success of its parliamentary elections and emphasized that Iraq enjoys complete freedom and democracy, which is becoming more firmly established over time. Additionally, she praised the Iraqi government’s efforts in successfully handling the return of displaced persons from al-Hol camp, their rehabilitation, and reintegration into society. The success of the conference on al-Hol camp, held in New York last September, was also acknowledged.

Al-Araji reiterated Iraq’s commitment to maintaining balanced international relations and pursuing openness to strengthen common interests. He highlighted that Iraq’s diversity is a source of strength for its people and the nation, and that Iraqis take pride in this diversity.
