Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani stressed the importance of holding a meeting of the Iraqi-Hungarian Joint Committee as a practical platform for activating projects and agreements.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Prime Minister’s Media Office said that al-Sudani received the Hungarian Ambassador to Iraq, Osama Ibrahim Nafaa. During the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed greetings from the Hungarian Prime Minister to al-Sudani, congratulating him on the success of the parliamentary elections, the high voter turnout, and his resounding victory.

The discussions focused on bilateral relations between Iraq and Hungary and explored avenues to strengthen and develop these ties across various fields. Prime Minister al-Sudani underscored Iraq’s commitment to expanding partnerships with regional and international allies, highlighting cooperation with Hungary as a significant step forward. He reiterated the importance of convening the Iraqi-Hungarian Joint Committee meeting to serve as a catalyst for activating existing projects and agreements.

Ambassador Nafaa expressed the Hungarian government’s eagerness to enhance cooperation with Iraq, noting the country’s current climate of security, stability, and growth. He mentioned that Hungarian companies are keen to enter the Iraqi market and engage in diverse development projects. Prime Minister al-Sudani welcomed this interest, inviting Hungarian firms to seize the investment opportunities available in Iraq and contribute to the comprehensive development efforts across all sectors.
