Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) affirmed the international community’s responsibility and commitment to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their just struggle for justice, freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of their independent state.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a speech delivered at an event commemorating the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, OIC Secretary-General Hussein Ibrahim Taha pointed to the grave challenges facing the Palestinian cause as a result of the unprecedented Israeli aggression and genocide over the past two years. He stated that this situation presents the international community with a true test of its political will and commitment to international law. He stressed the necessity of achieving a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of the occupying forces, the opening of all crossings, and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid.

For his part, Assistant
Secretary-General for Palestine and al-Quds Affairs, Ambassador Samir Bakr, emphasized the need to provide international protection for the Palestinian people and end the impunity enjoyed by the Israeli occupation. This can be achieved by activating accountability mechanisms under international criminal law, thereby contributing to the establishment of the foundations of justice and peace.

He called for continued support and solidarity until the Palestinian people can end the Israeli occupation of their land and regain their legitimate rights, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with the June 4, 1967 borders and East Quds as its capital.
