Kurdistan Health Ministry Records 87 New HIV Cases in 2025


Erbil: The Ministry of Health in the Kurdistan Region announced today, Monday, the registration of 87 new HIV cases during the past eleven months.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry revealed that laboratory tests conducted during this period identified 64 cases among expatriates and foreigners from outside the Kurdistan Region, while 23 cases were found among citizens and residents within the region. The Ministry confirmed that necessary health measures have been implemented for all individuals diagnosed.



The Ministry emphasized the significance of unifying efforts and providing support to those living with HIV. It highlighted that World AIDS Day serves as a global platform to raise community awareness and promote measures to reduce the spread of the virus. The Ministry also noted that adherence to self-protection guidelines contributes to a decrease in new infections.
