Baghdad: An expanded meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a delegation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss arrangements for Baghdad to host the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on the organizational and technical arrangements for the event, which is scheduled to take place in Baghdad in April of next year.

The meeting saw participation from key figures, including heads of relevant departments within the Ministry, representatives from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and the Ministry of Interior. Ambassador Shorsh Khalid Saeed, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Multilateral and Legal Affairs, led the Iraqi side. He is also the Chairman of the Prime Ministerial Committee responsible for preparing for the 52nd session. Ambassador Yousef Al-Dabai, Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, headed the OIC delegation.

The Undersecretary affirmed Iraq's readiness to cooperate fully to ensure the session's success, addressing logistical, organizational, administrative, security, and media preparations. The OIC delegation expressed admiration for Iraq's stability and the government's efforts, as well as the development witnessed in Baghdad. They praised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its organization of the meeting.

Ambassador Yousef Al-Daba'i highlighted that Iraq's successful hosting of the session would signify a success for Arabs and Muslims, underlining the session's importance amid regional challenges. Both sides agreed to continue holding joint meetings to finalize preparations for this significant Arab and Islamic event.
