Diyala: Diyala Police Command announced the release of a girl after she was kidnapped for 27 days inside a building under construction, and the arrest of the suspect. In a statement, the Command said, “Following a report of a girl going missing in Al-Tahweela area on November 9, 2025, Diyala Police Chief Major General Mohammed Kadhim Attiya directed the formation of a specialized security team, under the command of the director of Hibhib Police Station.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the security team immediately began its work by reviewing surveillance camera footage and gathering information from the surrounding area. Through further investigation, one of the suspects was identified.

The statement continued by explaining that after setting up a well-planned ambush, the suspect was arrested. It was discovered that he resided in Tarmiyah district, Al-Abaychi area. This was done in full coordination with the forces holding the ground there. When confronted with the evidence, the accused confessed to kidnapping the girl and holding her captive inside a building under construction. The force then immediately moved to the specified location and was able to safely free the girl and return her to her family.

The statement indicated that the case was presented before the competent judge, who ordered the accused’s detention in accordance with Article 422 of the Iraqi Penal Code, which pertains to kidnapping crimes.
