Iraq: Iraq has won the Arab Government Excellence Award in its fourth edition, achieving a remarkable accomplishment for the third consecutive year at the level of the League of Arab States.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers stated in a press release that “the Ministry of Education received the award for its ‘Back to Education’ initiative, which has significantly contributed to enhancing the educational process, increasing school enrollment rates among dropouts, and improving the educational environment after the challenges the country has faced in recent years.”

The statement added that “the award was announced during the official ceremony organized by the League of Arab States under the patronage of the government of the United Arab Emirates last Thursday, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, along with a number of government leaders and representatives of the winning institutions.”

It noted that “the Director General of the Audit and Oversight Department at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and coordinator of the award file for the Republic of Iraq, commended the significant efforts exerted by the Ministry of Education and its staff in designing and implementing the initiative, and its role in reintegrating students who had dropped out of school and supporting the stability of the educational process. It also acknowledged the direct follow-up by the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, and the pivotal role of the General Secretariat in empowering participating Iraqi government institutions through the technical support, training, and advice provided by a specialized team from the Audit and Oversight Department.”
