Baghdad: The Director General of the Department of Judicial Relations, Ahmed Laibi Abdul Hussein, held a significant meeting with Aamir Sohail, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Baghdad, at the Ministry building. The discussions primarily focused on the situation of Pakistani inmates in Iraqi correctional facilities and the potential signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two nations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting highlighted the urgency of formalizing the MoU, which aims to facilitate the transfer of convicted Pakistani nationals back to Pakistan. This agreement is intended to ensure that the rights of these inmates are upheld in line with humanitarian and legal standards.

During the meeting, Consul General Sohail expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Department in overseeing the conditions of Pakistani detainees in Iraq and acknowledged its cooperation in streamlining related procedures.
