Doha: The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received Sheikh Khamis Al-Khanjar, leader of the Sovereignty Party, and Mohammed Al-Halbousi, leader of the Progress Party, in the Qatari capital, Doha, on the sidelines of the Doha 2025 Conference.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting discussed files and issues of common interest to the two brotherly countries and the region. Emphasis was placed on the importance of forming the next Iraqi government in a way that ensures genuine representation for all segments of the Iraqi people and strengthens national unity during this critical period.
The Emir of Qatar also affirmed Doha’s support for all efforts aimed at achieving stability in Iraq and enabling it to play its historical and necessary role in light of the developments in the region, thereby enhancing regional security and joint cooperation.
Sheikh al-Khanjar and al-Halbousi expressed their appreciation for Qatar’s role in supporting Iraq, its commitment to the country’s stability, and its efforts to create a positive environment conducive to understanding among political forces, ultimately leading to the formation of a strong government capable of addressing challenges and achieving sustainability and stability in Iraq.
