Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Dr. Mahmoud al-Mashhadani congratulated Iraqis on the eighth anniversary of victory over ISIS terrorist gangs. In a statement, al-Mashhadani expressed his admiration for the bravery of Iraq’s defenders, who risked their lives to secure and preserve the nation’s dignity and unity.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Mashhadani highlighted the immense contributions of the Iraqi Army, Federal and Local Police, Intelligence and National Security Services, Popular Mobilization Forces, Peshmerga, and tribal fighters in achieving this triumph. He described their efforts as a glorious chapter in Iraq’s history, serving as a beacon of inspiration.

Al-Mashhadani emphasized the sacred duty to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs and acknowledged the courage and resilience of the wounded heroes. He also recognized the displaced citizens, who played a pivotal role in the struggle with their steadfastness and unwavering faith in the country’s resurgence.

He urged that this anniversary be seen as an opportunity to recommit to enacting laws that protect the rights of martyrs and the wounded, restore stability for the displaced, and rebuild the regions most affected by conflict. Al-Mashhadani also stressed the importance of maintaining security and preventing any resurgence of terrorism.
