Baghdad: On the 78th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Shakhwan Abdullah affirmed his support for initiatives aimed at enhancing the situation of children in Iraq and globally.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abdullah issued a statement from his media office, expressing his highest appreciation and congratulations to the leadership and staff of UNICEF both in Iraq and worldwide. He praised their ongoing efforts to protect children and promote their rights without discrimination.

Abdullah highlighted UNICEF’s role since its establishment on December 11, 1946, as a crucial partner for nations and communities working towards a better future for upcoming generations. He pointed out that the organization’s field programs in Iraq have significantly impacted children affected by wars, conflicts, crises, and poverty, providing them with necessary humanitarian assistance, education, healthcare, and protection in challenging circumstances.

Reaffirming his complete support for initiatives aimed at improving childhood conditions, Abdullah emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between government institutions and international organizations, particularly UNICEF, to ensure a safe and stable environment for every child in Iraq.

He also expressed deep appreciation for the dedication of UNICEF staff, highlighting the importance of renewing shared commitments and responsibilities to build a more just and prosperous future for children in Iraq and across the world.
