Baghdad: Al-Karkh Police Command announced on Saturday that Mahmoudiyah Anti-Crime Department had arrested a criminal gang known as ‘Abu Jakooj,’ specialized in stealing motorcycles in the capital, Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement issued by the Police Media Office said that the gang was involved in theft and robbery operations, using a sharp tool locally known as a ‘Jakooj’ to assault victims and force them to hand over their motorcycles.

The statement added that the arrest followed intensive field surveillance and precise intelligence efforts, which led to identifying the gang’s location, apprehending all its members, and seizing the tools used in committing their crimes.

It also noted that all legal measures had been taken against the suspects, who were formally detained in accordance with the law.
