Aleppo: Violent clashes have renewed between units of the Syrian Army and groups affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on several fronts around the city of Aleppo, amid escalating tensions in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a military source stated that the army’s artillery targeted SDF positions and emplacements around Aleppo, “within the legitimate right to respond to sources of fire,” after snipers and armed groups targeted an Internal Security checkpoint and roads used by civilians within the city.

In the same context, an official source confirmed that army forces destroyed bulldozers and several pieces of military equipment belonging to the SDF in the Rasafa area, as they were attempting to advance and erect barricades in the area. This prevented any change to the front lines and thwarted new attempts to impose a new reality on the ground.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo is being shelled by Turkish-backed factions, which it described as “groups displeased with the progress of negotiations between the SDF and the government.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the shelling was carried out by tanks, with several consecutive shells heard. Other sources suggested the possible use of rocket launchers or missiles, but the type of weapon has not yet been definitively confirmed.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that heavy weapons fire was heard in the vicinity of Othman Hospital in the Ashrafieh neighborhood, coinciding with tank shelling targeting the area around Sheikh Othman roundabout. This has caused widespread panic and fear among civilians in nearby neighborhoods.

There is still no confirmed information regarding casualties or material damage. The area is experiencing heightened security tensions and a widespread mobilization following this escalation.
