Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani was instrumental in transforming the resistance movement from abstract slogans into an operational reality throughout the region.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi made these remarks during the opening ceremony of the international conference titled ‘Martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani: Diplomacy and Resistance.’ He emphasized General Soleimani’s pivotal role as the architect of the Axis of Resistance, noting that his influence extended beyond daily policy-making and executive strategies in Iran’s foreign policy.

Araghchi explained that the foundation of Soleimani’s approach was rooted in Iran’s resistance-oriented diplomacy, highlighting that effective diplomacy requires a blend of courage and prudence. He argued that diplomacy is essential for organizing relations and enhancing power, but it must be coupled with other strategies to achieve success.

The foreign minister elaborated on various dimensions of resistance, including economic resistance, which involves reducing dependency and diversifying resources, as well as cultural resistance, which focuses on preserving identity and countering soft warfare. In diplomacy, resistance means defending national interests, breaking communication monopolies, and presenting a compelling narrative to the global community.

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s commitment to supporting the discourse of resistance, asserting that despite portrayals of Israeli dominance, resistance remains a significant geopolitical force in shaping the future of West Asia. General Soleimani, known for his efforts against regional terrorism, was assassinated by the US military under the orders of US President Donald Trump near Baghdad’s international airport on January 3, 2020.
