Tehran: Li Jiannan, the manager of the Tehran Bureau of China Media Group (CMG) says the legacy of Iran’s top anti-terror icon, Martyr General Qassem Soleimani will continue to shine, and his path of resistance will forever be cherished.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in an interview coinciding with the sixth martyrdom anniversary of General Soleimani, Li said ‘the path of resistance’ formed and shaped by the late commander has reached a stage that cannot be deterred through pressure or threats and will continue to move forward.
Calling the assassination of General Soleimani in a drone strike in 2020 in Baghdad ‘a clear violation of international law’, he said the action was a bloody manifestation of the United States’ hegemonic policy in the West Asia region.
‘General Soleimani was committed to confronting extremist groups and maintaining regional stability during his lifetime,’ pointed the Chinese journalist, adding that he was targeted because of his effort to stop American hegemony.
Li emphasized that Washington has been pursuing interventionist policies in West Asia for years, abusing its slogan of ‘democracy’ by sowing discord and causing instability in the region.
Referring to the US and Israeli interference in the internal affairs of others, he said their policies have devastated countries such as Lebanon and Yemen and displaced millions, adding ‘This unilateral approach and force-based policy have been widely condemned.’
On the 12-day US-backed Israeli invasion of Iran in June, Li stated that the military aggression exposed ‘their hegemonic nature and disregard for the sovereignty of countries and the stability of the region.’
Emphasizing that pressure and suppression have never destroyed the will of Resistance, Li also noted that Iran will continue to support the just ideals in West Asia, especially in supporting and upholding the inherent rights of the Palestinian people.
‘The seed of resistance sown by General Soleimani has now taken root and borne fruit and will respond as long as the United States and Israel continue their hegemonic pursuit in West Asia,’ he concluded.
