Baghdad: The Iraqi Parliament commenced its first session of the sixth term, led by Amer al-Fayez, the oldest member of the assembly. The session focused on significant procedures essential for the functioning of the legislative body.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the agenda for the session included the swearing-in of newly elected members. This was a crucial step to officially induct the members into their roles and responsibilities. Additionally, the session aimed to elect the Speaker of the House and two deputy speakers, positions critical for the leadership and administration of parliamentary activities.

The Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, Safwan Bashir, played a fundamental role in the proceedings by reading the names of the new members. This formal reading was followed by the constitutional oath, marking the official start of their legislative duties.
