Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan, congratulated the Iraqi people on completing the first phase of constitutional requirements with the election of the Speaker and his two deputies, and the convening of the first session of the sixth parliamentary term.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan explained that this achievement is the result of the large and conscious participation of citizens in the recent parliamentary elections. He expressed his gratitude to the political forces, heads of parliamentary blocs, and members of Parliament for adhering to the timelines in implementing national requirements and for their efforts to ensure the success of the political process.

Faihan affirmed that the Council of Representatives is committed to fulfilling the electoral requirements within the established constitutional timeframe. He noted that during its session, the Council’s leadership opened the nomination process for the presidency and received an official document from the Coordination Framework, the largest parliamentary bloc.

He added that the current session will focus on passing important laws that impact citizens’ lives. Additionally, the oversight role will be enhanced to monitor the implementation of the government program, ensuring the interests of the people are met. This session is tasked with preserving national sovereignty and political and social stability to build a secure and prosperous Iraq.
