Baghdad: The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) announced the end of its mandate, affirming that the UN team in Iraq continues its work under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the mission explained that the UN team is working in close partnership with the Government of Iraq to support national development priorities through the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2025-2029), which was signed on December 25, 2025.

It highlighted that this transition represents a step towards long-term, sustainable development led by national leadership and based on stronger institutions and effective partnerships.

The statement emphasized that the UN continues its role as a partner in supporting the Government of Iraq in economic diversification, climate action, water resource management, strengthening social protection, governance, and sustainable solutions.
