Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, has urged the heads of parliamentary blocs to hasten the nomination of their candidates for the parliamentary committees.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan emphasized that resolving this matter promptly is crucial for completing the institutional structure of the legislative authority. It is a necessary step to enable Parliament to efficiently and effectively exercise its constitutional powers and fulfill its oversight and legislative duties.
Faihan reiterated that the Parliament’s presidency is committed to finalizing the formation of parliamentary committees swiftly, viewing them as essential tools for managing parliamentary work and drafting legislation. He further stated that the current parliamentary session will prioritize enacting significant laws that directly affect citizens’ lives, addressing their economic, service, and social needs. Additionally, the session aims to enhance Parliament’s oversight role with seriousness and rigor to monitor the government’s performance, ensure the sound management of public resources, safeguard public funds, and establish accountability in line with constitutional provisions and applicable laws.
