Baghdad: In cooperation with Kuwait, the Ministry of Interior announced the thwarting of an international drug trafficking network’s plot and the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics. The Ministry of Interior revealed that this successful operation was part of a coordinated effort to combat illicit drug activities in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances at the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with the General Directorate for Drug Control in the State of Kuwait, executed a strategic intelligence and security operation. This operation resulted in the disruption of a plot orchestrated by an international criminal network involved in drug trafficking.

The Ministry’s statement highlighted that 314,000 Captagon pills were seized during this operation. These pills were intended for smuggling as part of the network’s cross-border activities, a seizure made possible through the exchange of precise intelligence and high-level coordination between the involved parties.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that this operation is a testament to the ongoing proactive efforts by the authorities to fight the drug menace and showcases the effective regional security cooperation in preventing drug trafficking and cutting off funding sources. The Ministry reiterated its strong commitment to safeguarding society from drug threats and pledged to continue its intelligence and field operations to prevent any threats to the security and stability of citizens, in partnership with allied nations.
