Baghdad: Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari emphasized the importance of developing regional and international cooperation to combat human trafficking. A statement from the Minister’s office indicated that the Interior Minister, who also heads the High Committee for Combating Human Trafficking, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, chaired a meeting of the High Committee today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the Directorate for Combating Human Trafficking, with representatives from relevant ministries and agencies in attendance.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting resulted in the adoption of several important recommendations in line with the approved national strategy. These recommendations focused on enhancing media awareness, monitoring the movement of foreign workers, and tracking smuggling and irregular migration patterns to prevent any potential exploitation.

The Minister stressed the importance of developing regional and international cooperation and opening new avenues with international organizations, particularly in the areas of training, capacity building, and the use of artificial intelligence technologies to uncover criminal networks.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on implementing the decisions and recommendations issued in a spirit of national responsibility, serving our beloved Iraq and preserving human dignity.
